Governance Health Check — find the weak joints before they fail.

Most governance looks fine on paper. This assessment scores how it behaves under load — who decides, how decisions travel, and whether the reporting tells the truth — across the five dimensions that decide whether a project holds.

What it does.

The Governance Health Check turns a vague sense that "decisions aren’t landing" into a structured, evidence-based score. You rate ten plain-language statements on a 0–4 maturity scale; the dashboard converts them into dimension scores, RAG status, and an overall verdict on whether your governance is load-bearing or decorative.

It covers the five dimensions where project governance actually fails: decision rights, forums and cadence, information and reporting, independent assurance, and change and risk control.

Inside the free edition.

  • Interactive web tool — run the assessment in your browser, nothing installed, nothing sent to a server.
  • Dynamic Excel workbook — guided 0–4 ratings with dropdowns, notes and evidence columns, and a live dashboard with data bars and RAG formatting.
  • Ten statements across five governance dimensions, written for capital projects and complex delivery organisations.
  • An honest verdict — each dimension gets a plain-English reading, not just a number.
  • Works in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice Calc.

Questions, answered.

What is a project governance health check?

A structured assessment of whether the decision-making structure around a project actually works: who holds which decision rights, whether forums produce decisions rather than status updates, whether reporting gives one honest view of cost, schedule, and risk, whether assurance happens at the moments that matter, and whether change passes through a controlled route.

Is the Governance Health Check really free?

It will be. The free edition launches without a sign-up wall once final release checks are complete. Until then, preview it here and register interest via the contact form — we will send it the moment it ships. The full instrument remains part of a stomwerk engagement.

Does the workbook work in Google Sheets and LibreOffice?

Yes. It uses standard formulas, dropdown validation, and conditional formatting that behave identically in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice Calc.

When should I run a governance health check?

At mobilisation, before a major stage gate, after a significant change in scope or leadership — or whenever delivery feels harder than the reporting suggests.
