Recovery Readiness Assessment — know what to stabilise before you recover.

Recoveries fail twice when they start too early. This diagnostic tests whether a distressed project has the conditions for recovery — a defensible schedule, credible costs, governance that decides, a team that can deliver, and stakeholders behind the attempt — and tells you what to stabilise first.

What it does.

The Recovery Readiness Assessment turns "can this project be saved?" into a structured, evidence-based answer. You rate the project on an anchored 1–5 scale from Critical to Robust; the tool converts your answers into a readiness percentage, one of four readiness levels — from Not Ready to Ready — and a list of priority interventions for every dimension that scores below adequate.

It covers the five dimensions that decide whether a recovery holds: schedule integrity, cost confidence, governance clarity, team capacity, and stakeholder alignment. A recovery priority matrix then plots each weak dimension by impact and effort, so you start with the quick wins, not the loudest problem.

Inside the free edition.

  • Interactive web tool — the full 30-question diagnostic with anchored 1–5 scales per question, run in your browser, nothing installed, nothing sent to a server.
  • Readiness gauge, dimension bars, priority interventions, and an impact/effort priority matrix, exportable to PDF.
  • Dynamic Excel workbook — a condensed 15-question edition with dropdown ratings, notes and evidence columns, and a live dashboard with data bars and RAG formatting.
  • An honest verdict — each weak dimension gets a named intervention, not just a number.
  • Works in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice Calc.

Questions, answered.

What is a recovery readiness assessment?

A structured diagnostic that tests whether a distressed project has the conditions for a successful recovery before anyone commits to a recovery plan: a defensible schedule baseline, credible cost estimates and contingency, governance that can make decisions at recovery pace, a team with the capacity to deliver, and stakeholders aligned behind the attempt.

Is the Recovery Readiness Assessment really free?

It will be. The free edition launches without a sign-up wall once final release checks are complete. Until then, preview it here and register interest via the contact form — we will send it the moment it ships. The full instrument remains part of a stomwerk engagement.

Does the workbook work in Google Sheets and LibreOffice?

Yes. It uses standard formulas, dropdown validation, and conditional formatting that behave identically in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice Calc.

When should I run a recovery readiness assessment?

Before committing to a recovery plan on any project in distress — when milestones keep slipping, contingency is draining faster than risk is retiring, or leadership is debating a rebaseline. The assessment tells you what to stabilise first.
